University Housing units which include Business Services Operations Dining Services Facilities Services Promotions & Student Recruitment and Residence Life. Position Summary

As the Assistant Director of Residence Life Occupancy and Outreach reporting to the Associate Director of Residence Life for Residential Operations you will hold a crucial role in managing University Housings front desk services and resources as well as supporting housing occupancy and outreach which includes managing daily operations supervising staff and leading and implementing the functional areas of services and resources for University Housing Office and Residential Life. You will also provide oversight management and direction for the recruitment hiring selection onboarding training and performance evaluations of student staff that support University Housing Front Desk services.

As the Assistant Director you will be focusing on improving services and providing reliable technical solutions to support datadriven decisionmaking for occupancy issues. This will involve managing and coordinating residential student applications room selection assignments and billing processes for residence halls and university apartments/houses in addition to meal plan management and changes ensuring all assignment records and billings are process efficiently.

Additionally as the Assistant Director you will collaborate with various departments and Housing units such as Human Resources Business Office Facilities Dining Services Information Technology and Marketing to enhance the student living experience and support the operations and accomplish the strategic plan and goals of University Housing.

Key Responsibilities:
Front Desk Operations: Lead daily operations supervise professional and student staff and ensure excellent customer service for students parents and campus constituents.
Occupancy Management: Oversee residential student applications room selection assignments and billing processes. Manage meal plan changes and improve services through datadriven decisionmaking.
Outreach and Events: Coordinate and represent University Housing at recruitment events manage volunteer staff and prepare materials for events. Provide training and guidance for staff attending events. Provide leadership areas related to promotion recruitment marketing and messaging for University Housing through email text messaging phone calls and inperson interactions.
Administration: Coordinate housing contracts student assignments billing and database management. Support the checkin and checkout processes and manage early arrival and late stay procedures. Support the implementation and oversight of assessment to evaluate customer service interactions housing registration process improvements and makes suggestions for improvement of areas interacting with the Front Desk.


Essential Personnel:
Nature/weather conditions change rapidly in the Pacific Northwest. As a result certain Campus Operations personnel are considered required at all times to maintain the continuity of critical operations and business during and after a disaster or natural event. This position is one of those required positions necessitating that the employee make every reasonable effort to arrive at campus at their regularly scheduled times unless otherwise notified by their supervisor. Essential personnel must provide reliable and current contact information at all times.

Minimum Requirements

Masters degree in student affairs or higher education or related field.
Three years of fulltime professional experience with direct customer service in education including experience supervising student or professional staff.

Professional Competencies

Knowledge of student development theory and its application in a residential environment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with colleagues.
Ability to assess and meet the needs of a wide variety of people while recognizing the needs of underrepresented and underserved students at the University of Oregon.

Preferred Qualifications

Three years of residence life experience.
Experience with the StarRez database.
Experience with residential services systems and resource management.
Experience with residential curriculum.
Experience with social justice diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Experience with student academic initiatives and livinglearning communities or academic residential programs.
Experience with analyzing and resolving conflict team building group dynamics and problemsolving skills.
Experience with program development and assessment.
