About the John E. Jaqua Law Library:
The John E. Jaqua Law Library is organized as part of the UO Libraries. It is located inside the Knight Law Center on the University campus. The Law Library supports the legal education program of the Law School. The Law School enrolls over 500 students in its JD LLM and masters degree programs and over 400 undergraduate students enrolled in its legal studies minor. We teach legal research skills assist faculty with scholarship and provide enhanced learning spaces. Law librarians are members of the UO Libraries career faculty. The Law Library provides comprehensive legal collections in partnership with the UO Libraries. Our collections support the Law School curriculum and special programs and meet campus legal research needs.

Position Summary

The John E. Jaqua Law Library has an opening for a law reference librarian position! We seek an enthusiastic creative and serviceoriented team player to fill a position that contributes essential research services and instruction to the educational mission of the UO Law School. We are excited to be recruiting for a reference team whose collaborative approach benefits from the unique strengths each librarian brings to our shared support of Law School and related University programs. The successful candidate will enjoy the support of highly experienced and collegial library staff and the warm support of the Law School community. As a member of the UO Libraries system your career growth as a law librarian will be further enhanced by a rich multidisciplinary network of library professionals. As a member of the reference team the Law Reference Librarian provides extensive reference instructional and research services for sophisticated researchoriented faculty and students in a technologically advanced information environment. The person in this position will teach legal research skills including individualized research consultations with students; support faculty scholarship; perform collection development services including the selection of library materials; work collaboratively with other librarians on team projects; and participate in departmental planning activities.

The person in this position reports to the Head of Public Services and is expected to engage in service to the University UO Libraries and community through work on committees and similar groups; participate in appropriate professional development activities and organizations to stay current with trends and practices in the field; meet UO Libraries faculty criteria for promotion and retention.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications for the Rank of Assistant Librarian:
Masters Degree in Library/Information Science from an ALAaccredited institution within 6 months of appointment.
Juris Doctor from an ABAaccredited program by time of appointment.

Minimum Qualifications for the Rank of Associate Librarian:
Masters Degree in Library/Information Science from an ALAaccredited institution.
Juris Doctor from an ABAaccredited program.
Six years postMLIS experience in an academic law library.

Preferred Qualifications

Reference and/or instructional experience in an academic law library.
Experience providing classroom instruction.
