Job Description:
The Digital Resources Librarian manages implementation access evaluation and renewal of licensed e-resources including subscription databases e-journals and e-books. The incumbent serves as contact for content providers the University System of Maryland and Affiliated Institutions (USMAI) Consortial Library Applications & Services (CLAS) team and librarian faculty and staff. The Digital Resources Librarian monitors usage statistics and analyzes usage and content scope of resources to inform collection decisions.
Position is open until filled and applications received by Thursday August 7 will receive priority consideration.
This role is primarily on-site with the possibility of two (2) days of telework per week.
Responsibilities:
- Manages implementation licensing and discovery of e-resources; works with vendors to trial new products negotiate pricing and license agreements and make recommendations for collection development. Participates in collection development budget planning process.
- Assesses usage and content scope of resources using best practices and standards to support e-collection evaluation for collection development.
- Monitors trends standards and best practices related to access and discovery of e-resources; identifies and recommends improvements; works with integrated digital services to implement enhancements.
- Promotes and shares information with campus faculty staff and students concerning library e-resources through all means of communication; coordinates with reference & instruction librarians on outreach efforts on appropriate use of e-content.
- Writes and maintains documentation of policies/procedures related to e-resource maintenance and troubleshooting. Provides troubleshooting support in conjunction with other departmental staff.
- Serves as liaison to USMAI librarians concerned with e-resources and Consortial Library Applications & Services (CLAS) support team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- MLS from ALA-accredited library school or equivalent degree
- One year library experience
- Ability to identify and resolve problems with database access. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with the collection and analysis of usage data and content. Demonstrated expertise in assessment and evaluation of resources. Demonstrated experience in negotiating and licensing e-content. Ability to work independently. Ability to work with others in a cooperative manner within a team environment and with those of varying degrees of technological aptitude. Effective communication interpersonal organizational analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent customer service skills with a commitment to customer service. Commitment to continuing professional development and participation in professional activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MLS from ALA-accredited library school or equivalent degree focused on e-resource licensing and evaluation
- Two to three years experience in an academic library in e-resources management and evaluation
