Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the nontenure research track. Expertise is required in the specific area of oligodendrocyte biology and myelination with knowledge of lysosomal and cytoskeletal functions. The successful candidate will have experience in methods including primary cell culture of oligodendrocytes imaging and analysis of oligodendrocyte in vitro and in vivo using fluorescence confocal live cell microscopy knowledge of cellular organellar structure function and interactions to study the generation of the myelin sheath and regeneration in the context of developmental and neurodegenerative diseases and injury. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include developing collaborative and independent research programs related to myelination and the relationship between glial cells in the nervous system. The candidate may supervise postdoctoral fellows students and research staff coordinating NIHfunded grant efforts with local national and international collaborators. The candidate may participate in writing grants reports and manuscripts.
