We are seeking Platform Engineers who are passionate about creating and supporting network infrastructure with emerging technologies to join our team. As a Platform Engineer youll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One.
The Cloud Operations Resilience Engineering (CORE) Technology division is responsible for enabling and evolving Capital Ones foundational cloud infrastructure layer including observability connectivity resilience and availability.
The Network Edge Engineering team is committed to providing Capital One enterprise solutions for network connectivity for all wired and wireless endpoints. We partner with internal stakeholders to ensure all assets connected to the Capital One enterprise network are secure and compliant. This team drives the strategy of software defined WAN software defined switching and software defined out of band access. As part of Capital Ones move to a cloud based solution we are working towards building a wellmanaged platform to integrate and migrate our onprem appliances into a cloud or SaaS offering.
General Responsibilities:
Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
Continuously improve network engineering practices
Work within and across Agile teams to design develop test implement and support technical solutions across a fullstack of development tools and technologies
Lead the craftsmanship availability resilience and scalability of your solutions
Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends experiment with and learn new technologies participate in internal & external technology communities and mentor other members of the engineering community
Encourage innovation implementation of cuttingedge technologies inclusion outsideofthebox thinking teamwork selforganization and diversity
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma GED or equivalent certification
At least 5 years of experience of Enterprise Network Engineering
At least 2 years of Unix or Linux system administration experience
Active Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE)
6 years of network infrastructure experience
2 years of DevOps Engineering experience
3 years of experience with coding and scripting (Python Ansible Bash)
2 years of experience using build and deployment tools (Jenkins Docker)
2 years of experience with software defined networking control planes.

The minimum and maximum fulltime annual salaries for this role are listed below by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for parttime roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean VA: $158400 $180800 for Lead Platform EngineerCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidates offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
