The Opportunity

As a dedicated Military Advocacy Director you will be dedicated to the guidance creation coordination and of the Military Affairs strategy for advocating on behalf of the military community. It involves collaborating with the executive management of Military Affairs to establish a strategic framework that supports both shortterm and longterm business goals and objectives encompassing both internal and external outreach engagement and activation supporting the military community. The individual is responsible for the development and maintenance of strategic and operational roadmaps for Military Affairs ensuring that deliverables are met both in the present and future.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position will be based in our San Antonio TX home office. Relocation assistance is available for this position.

What youll do:

  • Drives the development and coordination of components within the overarching business unit strategy.
  • Works with executive management to establish strategic and operational framework that establishes enables short and longterm business goals and key results.
  • Develops specific processes to manage the business strategic and operational planning process.
  • Drives the alignment of business process and frameworks to enterprise strategy process and framework.
  • Partners with seniorlevel leaders across functions and channels to develop near and longterm visions and roadmaps and works with business leaders to manage transition from strategy to .
  • Maintains responsibility of integration of change management plans project documentation and strategies for large complex business specific initiatives that often impact the organization and/or enterprise.
  • Identifies strengths and weaknesses to evaluate operational effectiveness by establishing best practices and management routines to address gaps.
  • Guides team members as they perform research and analysis.
  • Supports business unit executive leadership by leading the design coordination and governance of the annual strategic planning and operational planning processes.
  • Leads and motivates crossfunctional team members in strategy and operational plan development and implementation.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified measured monitored and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelorsdegree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 8 years of directly related business planning consultation experience to include developing business strategy for shortterm and/or longterm goals.
  • Experience influencing and managing communication to senior executives internal colleagues through concise official and regular updates on status progress strategies and roadmaps
  • Extensive experience in Project Management.
  • Strong business acumen in financial services or related industry and a proven ability to balance strategic thinking with practical implementation skills.
  • Experience working with clients/customers to realize business issues and develop a strategy for the businesss direction from the gathered insights.

  • Former senior NCO officer or military spouse
  • Experience driving the development and coordination of a military community engagement and support strategy.
  • Experience supporting the integration of change management plans and strategies for large complex business specific initiatives that align with change management practices.
  • Extensive experience engaging in and coordinating military community programs.
  • Experience creating marketing communication and engagement strategies around the military community.
  • Previous experience positioning organizations as a military advocate supporting the military community driving business value & outcomes through affinitybased and missiondriven engagements and initiatives.
  • Experience providing military community subject matter expertise to support business plans.
  • Deep military community connections to develop and maintain senior level relationships with key military spouse influencers and leaders.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $114080 $205340.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
