The Mount Sinai Emergency Medicine Department is one of the largest in the country. Our faculty staff the hospitals within the Mount Sinai Health System (the Mount Sinai Hospital Mount Sinai Queens Mount Sinai Morningside Mount Sinai West Mount Sinai Brooklyn Mount Sinai South Nassau as well as affiliated hospitals including Elmhurst Hospital Center Queens Hospital Center and Richmond University Medical Center. The Emergency Medicine Service Line has almost 300 faculty more than 100 physician assistants and treat more than 750K patients annually. The Department is ranked number 3 in research funding from the National Institutes of Health is home to 2 emergency medicine residencies 11 fellowships (including one in Pediatric Emergency Medicine) and is affiliated with 2 pediatric residencies.
Overall Responsibilities:
The System Vice Chair of Research is a senior leadership department based role whose primary responsibility is the development and of system wide research strategy aligned with department goals and institutional priorities. This position is focused on elevating the research profile and scientific impact of the department through its faculty and staff to achieve national recognition and prominence in the field of Emergency Medicine research.
This role provides strategic direction and oversight to all research related activities including mentoring research faculty at all levels developing scientific priorities to advance cutting edge research managing department resources to ensure strong research financial health collaborating with institutional partners to promote team science and discovery advising key stakeholders on research initiatives and serving as a model senior investigator in the department.
The ideal candidate will be a faculty member with a robust track record of independent research funding demonstrated success collaborating with other members of the scientific community history of scholarly productivity as evidenced by publications in high impact journals and numerous invited talks and podium presentations to proliferate their work. Other desired characteristics for this position include strong interpersonal communication skills readiness to partner with academic faculty and administrative staff a professional with a strong understanding of research finances and a visionary thought leader who wants to grow and develop the department into a research powerhouse.

Expectations:
PhD compensation range from 375K to 425K to MD compensation range from 375K to 425K.
