Student Success Coach Running Start

Salary:$67725 $73751

Reports to:AssistantDirector of Running Start

This position is responsible for making significant contact with high school students and their families for the purpose of outreach and advising and retention strategies. The Success Coach conducts other outreach as appropriate including virtual or inperson presentations with students and families communications regarding Running Start in schools and on social media and support for college and careerrelated events in school and community settings. This position manages a caseload of high school students using high quality advising and coaching strategies to guide students through their academic goals at Olympic College. By providing expertise the Success Coach assists the students in successfully navigating the Olympic College student experience by developing a Completion Plan and the strategies skills and selfefficacy that lead to achieving the plan as well as facilitating a seamless transition to a program faculty advisor for specific advising in the field and/or educational/career path as needed. The Success Coach uses analytics to determine individual student risk and needs and to support the development of strategies to assist students in setting and succeeding in an educational pathway. The Success Coach plays a pivotal role in promoting student success to ensure each student reaches key benchmarks throughout their academic program and through engagement with and support of their pathway program faculty.

Essential Functions

  • Advises prospective and current Running Start students
  • Assist students with the quarterly selection of coursework
  • Educate students about alternatives limitations and possible consequences of academic decisions
  • Interpret testing results relevant to placement decisions; determines student readiness for college programs
  • Orient new students to Running Start by relaying program expectations processes and deadlines
  • Monitor satisfactory academic progress of students by reviewing academic standing reports determine their process toward their educational goal identify current and emerging needs and respond to instructor alert reports
  • Advise students how to access and navigate online resources including canvas and ctcLink to increase selfsufficiency
  • Assist with presentations and workshops for outreach events including Information Sessions and New Student Orientation
  • Assist with presentations and workshops related to advising and retention activities
  • Participate in college and/or community outreach fairs
  • Maintain and follow Running Start procedures and coding protocols established by the OSPI SBCTC and local policies instituted by the Running Start office
  • Maintain records of all student contacts and interactions and document students current program intent
  • Assist in the development preparation and updating of advising and coaching materials
  • Maintain uptodate knowledge about the Colleges programs and requirements
  • Engage in selfreflection and professional development toward career progression.
  • Demonstrate excellent proactive customer service skills including active listening interpersonal skills emotional intelligence and personal management of stress.
  • Display strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Function as a team player and contribute to a positive and effective work environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently read understand and interpret policies and procedures.
  • Meet deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in education student development human services or a related field
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computer and MS Office 365 applications
  • Experience working with students in an academic setting
  • Strong oral written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines while being attentive to details
  • Demonstrated experience with working effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds such a racial ethnic religious linguistic gender age sexual orientation socioeconomic and with diverse physical and learning disabilities

Desirable Qualifications

  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university in education student development human services or a related field
  • Higher education advising experience
  • Running Start department work experience
  • High school counseling experience
  • Experience with ctcLink

This isafulltime exempt position scheduled to work Monday through Friday. The salary for this position is$67725 $73751annually which includes a generous benefits package that includes the following.
