This is an exciting opportunity to join the School Attendance Support Service.
The School Attendance Support Service works with schools in Walsall to monitor and enforce regular attendance. We work closely with families and schools to understand and address the reasons for absences and develop strategies for improving attendance.
We are looking formotivated dynamicand ambitious Attendance Officerssomeone that hasstrong organisational and communication skills as well as being a good team player. Successful applicants willsupport our traded service to work with schools and families to ensure that children are receiving an education and achieving their potential.
As part of the attendance team applicants will need to have experience within an educational setting and have experience with supporting attendance.
Applicants will be expected to work independently within a statutory framework and a graduated system with a restorative approach. Successful applicants will work closely with pupils staff parents and carers to reduce levels of absence. This will involve home visits parental meetings and supporting schools to raise participation of children and young people at risk of becoming persistently absent.

For this role the successful candidates must undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check. BPSS is the minimum standard to ensure the identity and integrity of an employee who has access to official information using secure networks linking central government and local authorities. A BPSS check involves four main elements; Identity Check National and Immigration Status Employment History (last 3 years) and Verification of Criminal Record (unspent convictions only).
This post is covered by the Governments Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
