Job Description
Job Purpose
The Laboratory Manager under the direction of the Director of Professional Services and Pathologist works in conjunction with the Director of Professional Services and the Medical Laboratory Director to plan coordinate and direct the laboratory services. These responsibilities include the daily clinical operation of the department and general administrative supervision. Performs and understands all procedures in the lab. Disseminates information to all staff members working in the laboratory. Evaluates and develops test procedures. Develops orientation materials and staff development programs. Evaluates staff performance in accordance with laboratory and hospital policies and procedures. Administers the Quality Assurance program. Takes care of Lab Administration including scheduling documentation and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
Job Qualifications
- MS Degree in Medical Technology and two years ofexperience as a Medical Technologist. or a BS Degree in Medical Technologyfrom a school accredited by the AMA and certified by the Board of Registry of Medical Technologistor equivalent consistent with NYS licensure requirements with six years experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
- NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.
- Proficiency in all communication skills.
- Working Knowledge of EMR systems preferablyMEDITECH Expanse.
- Ability to work constructively and cooperatively with hospital staff medical staff patients and public.
