Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: The following responsibilities are required of the position plus any other duties that may be required by the employer. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the building principal.

  • Create and maintain an inclusive classroom environment that supports the developmental academic and social emotional needs of all preschool students including those with and without disabilities.
  • Implement developmentally appropriate practices in accordance with state early le

    arning standards and individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Establish and maintain strong supportive relationships with students families and colleagues.
  • Engage students in structured and playbased learning experiences designed to build foundational skills across developmental domains.
  • Utilize positive behavior support strategies to foster selfregulation and a safe nurturing classroom climate.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers speechlanguage pathologistsoccupational therapists physical therapists and other service providers to deliver integrated services.
  • Adapt curriculum and materials to meet individual needs of children including implementation of IEP goals and behavioral intervention plans.
  • Conduct regular formative and summative assessments to track developmental progress and inform instruction.
  • Plan and lead regular meetings with parents to discuss student progress IEP updates and family engagement strategies.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records reports and documentation as required by federal state and local regulations.
  • Participate in case conference committees (CCCs) and contribute to the development and revision of IEPs.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state laws regarding special education services early childhood education regulations and student confidentiality (FERPA/IDEA).
  • Supervise classroom assistants paraprofessionals and volunteers in collaboration with school leadership.
  • Promote languagerich sensoryresponsive and inclusive classroom environments conducive to student exploration and engagement.

SUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITY: Students instrcutional assistants classroom volunteers

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Indiana State Teaching License in Early Childhood Education (P3 with Special Education (Mild Intervention) certification or appropriate licensure covering preschool special education.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development inclusive instructional practices and the implementation of IEPs in an integrated setting.
  • Strong communication collaboration and problemsolving skills.
  • Experience in coteaching early childhood assessments and family engagement preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully preform the essential functions of the job.

The general physical demands include: Standing for extended periods kneeling sitting on the floor bending lifting up to 30 lbs and actively engaging with children in indoor and outdoor settings.
