QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Kentucky Teaching Certificate for Middle School Secondary Certification if endorsements for subject taught or grades 18 certification.
2. Such additional qualifications as the superintendent and/or Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

SUPERVISES: N/A
JOB GOALS: To create a unique educational environment focusing on the special needs of middle school students in order to promote the physical social emotional and intellectual development of each student.
Responsibilities Specific to Teaching Area
* The middle school teacher focuses on the special needs of middle school students by:
A. Actively involving students in the learning process;
B. Using a variety of teaching techniques/learning strategies appropriate to the needs of students in the middle school;
C. Displaying teacher empathy rapport and personal interaction with the students;
D. Providing a positive and inviting classroom atmosphere;
E. Fulfilling the guidance and counseling role of the teacher;
F. Allowing for a variety of learning styles;
G. Employing various teaching styles (including modeling assignments);
H. Reinforcing good behavior more than punishing poor behavior;
I. Preparing thoroughly for each objectivebased lesson or activity and giving frequent feedback on progress;
J. Utilizing a sense of humor;
K. Cooperating with other professionals;
L. Communicating clearly and constructively with students parents and staff;
M. Displaying a thorough knowledge of the developmental characteristics of boys and girls in the middle school and its effect on physical sociemotional and cognitive realms;
N. Maintaining a strong subject matter background and referring lesson application to other areas than his own;

O. Performs such other professional tasks (within reason) as may be assigned by the principal or the superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the superintendent and Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
