QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must hold a valid Virginia Department of Education Teaching License or be eligible for one. A Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction is preferred. The candidate should have experience in researchbased instructional practices including implicit and explicit teaching projectbased learning and 21stcentury performancebased objectives such as communication collaboration critical thinking and creativity. Additionally experience providing professional development coaching teachers and working in smallgroup facilitation is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders are essential.
DESCRIPTION
The Innovation Coach plays a key role in enhancing teacher practice and student achievement by supporting the implementation of effective instructional strategies. This position involves modeling best practices assisting teachers in selecting and applying researchbased instructional methods and providing professional development to strengthen instructional effectiveness. The Innovation Coach works closely with teachers administrators and division instructional supervisors to ensure instruction is aligned with the districts goals and state standards. The role also includes analyzing student data to inform instruction and intervention planning while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in teaching.
GENERAL DUTIES (May not include all duties performed)
SUPERVISION
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Deputy Superintendent in consultation with the School Principal.
WORK CONDITIONS
This position operates in a school setting requiring flexibility to work across multiple grade levels and classrooms. The Innovation Coach must be able to travel between schools as needed. The role involves frequent collaboration with teachers administrators and instructional teams as well as the ability to deliver training sessions and presentations. Work may occasionally extend beyond regular school hours for professional development sessions meetings or special events.
