Job Description

Summary

Facilitates change in instructional practices of teacher that will enable teacher to diagnose student needs more analytically plan more productively and teach more effectively.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership for teachers by planning collaborating organizing mentoring and facilitating change to improve the instructional program.
  • Disaggregates and analyzes data and assists principals and teachers in its interpretation to measure and improve student achievement and/or program effectiveness.
  • Provides knowledge of appropriate standards content materials and resources.
  • Facilitates the use of researchbased teaching strategies and best practices to address the needs of teachers and school/district goals.
  • Facilitates professional development needed to implement the schools improvement plan as well as the districts improvement plan.
  • Establishes maintains and enhances effective communication with administrators teachers parents and other stakeholders.
  • Works with principals and teachers in organizing grade level/content department meetings in order to affect horizontal and vertical continuity and articulation of the instructional program throughout the school.
  • Observes teachers in their classrooms and offers insights for the enhancement of teachinglearning situations.
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of instructional technology and other educational tools to enhance and extend instruction.
  • Performs other duties related to the improvement of student achievement as determined by the principal and Directors of Instruction.
  • Participates in New Teacher Orientation design and presentation in collaboration with instructional team.
  • Demonstrates positive collaborative relationships with other administrators.
  • Provides and models writing activities and assessments that will help teachers guide students in becoming proficient writers.
  • Assists teachers in the process of differentiating instruction in classrooms for all students.
  • Shall perform other duties related to the position as assigned by the Supervisor.

Required Knowledge & Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Curriculum instruction and assessment.
  • Recordkeeping techniques.
  • Operation of a computer terminal and data entry techniques.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Research methods and report writing techniques.
  • Laws rules and regulations related to assigned activities.
  • Policies and objectives of assigned program and activities.
  • Interpersonal skills using tact patience and courtesy.
  • Technical aspects of the field of specialty.

Ability to:

  • Perform the responsibilities as previously outlined.
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Operate a computer terminal.
  • Prioritize and schedule work.
  • Learn apply and explain policies procedures rules and regulations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of program rules regulations requirements and restrictions.
  • Determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines.
  • Work independently with little direction.
  • Meet schedules and timelines.

  • Work is performed while standing sitting and/or walking.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech close/distance vision and hearing.
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires bending squatting crawling climbing and reaching.
  • Requires the ability to lift carry and push or pull weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires a high level of physical endurance to meet the demands of extended work days (coverage of building activities and extracurricular activities etc..
  • Requires the ability to handle and balance multiple demands at the same time.

Education and/or Experiences

  • Masters Degree
  • At least five 5 years of successful teaching experience
  • Three 3 years experience in the area of teacher or school leadership preferred not required

Licenses and Other Requirements

  • Valid Kentucky Teaching Certificate
  • Certification as a program consultant for the area of responsibility and/or other relevant instructional certifications in reading and/or literacy
