Cytotechnologist

The Cytotechnologist (CT) is responsible for working within the established guidelines of the Cytology Department as assigned. The Cytotechnologist is responsible for carrying out the philosophy and objectives established by the Board of Directors and the Management Team. Foremost among these responsibilities are strictly adhering to detail in the technical performance of laboratory procedures solving practical and analytical problems resolving conflict and implementing constructive change Cytotechnology is the microscopic study of cells for evidence of disease in particular for the diagnosis of cancer. The field is perhaps best known for the Pap Smear an evaluation of cells from the uterus of the female which can reveal a diagnosis of some kinds of cancer or precancer as well as inflammatory conditions.
Minimum Requirements

Not required to perform the essential functions of the position.
Education:
o CT (ASCP) certified or eligible
o Bachelors Degree in Field
o Must include one year of formal training in a school approved by the American Medical Association followed by certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathology.
CT (ASCP) certified or eligible
Experience:
35 years cytology experience
Experience in assisting with fine needle biopsy is desirable
License(s)/Certification(s):
Valid drivers license when driving any vehicle for workrelated reasons.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Able to speak read and comprehend fluent English.
Communication written and verbal
Other:
Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the cytologist position.
