Position: Cytotechnologist
Location: Ithaca New York United States
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift Monday Friday 7.5 hours/day (37.5 hours/week)
Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in cytotechnology

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Cytotechnologist for a 13-week contract assignment in Ithaca NY. In this role you will be responsible for the accurate preparation screening and evaluation of gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens using the Hologic ThinPrep system. The position also involves participation in ultrasound/CT-guided fine needle aspiration (FNA) procedures for specimen adequacy assessment.

• Screen and evaluate gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens using the Hologic ThinPrep Imager and Review Scope

• Document findings and results in Epic electronic medical records system

• Participate in FNA procedures to assess specimen adequacy

• Ensure proper specimen labeling documentation and integrity throughout processing

• Maintain quality assurance and workload records in accordance with departmental standards

• Operate maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as necessary

• Comply with all regulatory safety and infection control protocols

• Stay current with continuing education requirements (minimum 24 hours per year)

• Manage specimen retention and handle send-out consultations

• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or lab leadership

• Current New York State Cytotechnologist License (Required)

• Certification in Hologic ThinPrep Imager and Review Scope (Required)

• Minimum of 1 year of relevant cytology experience

• Proficiency with Hologic ThinPrep system and Epic EMR

• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
