Job Title:Open Rank Assistant Associate Professor MD

Job Summary:

Originally started as the Reach Team in 2016 by a small group of passionate providers dedicated to palliative care the team has grown to include an assortment of both medical doctors and advanced practice providers as well as the support of social workers chaplains and other interdisciplinary teams. The creation of the Section of Palliative Medicine builds upon the foundation the Reach Team has established and communicates that both academic inquiry and education in palliative care should stand alongside this outstanding clinical care program. The section is already active in national presentations and peerreviewed publications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive focused assessment of children and families with palliative care needs.
  • Formulate implement monitor evaluate and modify palliative care plans and program activities with input from palliative care team and other collaborating care providers.
  • Engage in quality improvement in patent care services and department functions including evaluating the effectives of the health care delivery system in meeting the health care needs of pediatric palliative care patients and families.
  • Collaboration on systemwide education initiatives within the scope of palliative medicine.
  • Participate in pediatric palliative care research including quality and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate accountability for evaluations of clinical practice including adherence to organizations state and national practice standards and codes.
  • Attendance and participation in staff meetings is required.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Assistant Professor:

  • BC/BE in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care and/or outpatient experience.
  • Palliative Care fellowship training highly recommended; consideration given for certificate/Masters program in Palliative Care.
  • Sustained clinical experience in pediatric palliative medicine.

Associate Professor:

  • BC/BE in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
  • Minimum 5 years of acute care and/or outpatient experience.
  • Palliative Care fellowship training highly recommended; consideration given for certificate/Masters program in Palliative Care.
  • Sustained clinical experience in pediatric palliative medicine

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Childrens Hospital Colorado.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check.
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all onboarding requirements.
  • Colorado license and DEA will be required prior to start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comfortable working in high census academic setting.
  • Palliative Program Leadership
  • Experience in contributing to program growth in areas of outpatient care and community hospice care.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of a variety of management of common pediatric and adolescent medical conditions in the inpatient/outpatient and homebased hospice settings.
  • Skills in the effective delivery of healthcare via phone and telehealth services.
  • Strong spirit of collaboration and skills in working with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Wide spectrum of knowledge of pediatric disease pediatric prognostication and pediatric pain/symptom management.
  • Highly skilled in empathic communication.
  • Experience and desire to educate on the principles of pediatric palliative care.
  • Superior organizational and prioritization skills problem solving and collaboration skills are necessary.
  • Expertise and training in history and physical examinations and determination of treatment plans necessary.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range or hiring range for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor: $184000 to $194108

Associate Professor: $230000 to $254106

The above hiring range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is nonexempt.
