Scenic Studio Supervisor Indiana University Bloomington College of Arts & Sciences Department of Theatre Drama and Contemporary Dance Appointment: 12Month Academic Specialist/NonTenure Track Expected Start Date: August 1 2023 Announcement: Seeking a highly organized technically proficient Scenic Studio Supervisor with operational leadership skills to contribute to the teaching and training of undergraduate and MFA graduate students. This 12month fulltime position works in collaboration with the Prop and Paint Supervisor managing scenic studio employees and the scenic area builds for all department productions including the summer. Ideal candidate is expected to share a commitment to academic theater the mission of the department and a dedication to fostering diversity equity and inclusion DEI within the scenic studio and the department. We enthusiastically encourage women LGBTQ nonbinary and BIPOC individuals to apply. Basic Qualifications: BFA or MFA in technical direction for theatre. At least threeyears professional experience in scenic construction within an educational or professional theatre environment. Comprehensive knowledge (or a commitment to increase proficiencies) of carpentry metalwork CNC theatrical rigging fabrication and OSHA safety standards. Responsibilities Include: Provide rough and finish carpentry guidance/training to students of varying levels of experience. Serve as a primary point person for the monitoring of quality and of work during production builds. Organization maintenance and upkeep of the scenic studio theatres tools and storage locations. Maintain budget and procurement of building materials.
