The Device Cloud Services organization (DCS) is specialized in building foundational platform solutions that cater to a number of critical customer experiences. We are the cloud platform solution provider for the Device businesses ranging from the EReader to Echo Family of Devices and expanding into thirdparty devices that connect to Amazon ecosystem.
We are hiring a Software Development Manager to lead a team that owns the services and device components for the OvertheAir updates team. This team will own and maintain device components as well as the cloud infrastructure responsible for distributing new software and applications to all Amazon Devices and a number of thirdparty devices.

Key job responsibilities
The role will require you to build and own software on a variety of different technology stacks from backend services to Amazon Devices that range IoT platforms to Multimedia devices. You will work closely with partners that integrate with the components the OTA team owns (device firmware and multiple largescale services).
A day in the life
As the OTA SDM you will be leading a team of very talented individuals familiar with the challenges of owning a mission critical service.
You will work with partner teams to design implement test and release different software products to expand and improve the use of the Amazon OTA platform. You will also work to design test and launch device component changes so that future device creators can use OTA.
OTA is a foundational tier1 service used by all Amazon devices. The impact and visibility of this work is key for the future success of our Devices.
10 years of engineering experience
7 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
5 years of engineering team management experience
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Experience designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
Experience in many disparate technologies typically ranging from frontend user interfaces through to backend systems and all points in between
