Job Description

Salary:
$8.25 per hour (Max 26 hours per week)
Position Summary:
The University Department of Public Safetys mission is to provide professional proactive and communityoriented service and protection through prevention of crimes and other hazards enforcement of the law and safeguarding the constitutional guarantees of all within the campus community.
The University Student Assistant while on duty within their assigned campus residential areas these uniformed safety ambassadors will be responsible for:
- Conduct basic foot and scooter patrols in areas of Housing.
- Build positive relationships within residential community life.
- Proactively address potential safety issues (DPS Operational Plan 2023 Goal 2.
- Conduct lighting door fire extinguisher automated external defibrillator checks and monitor security cameras.
- Engage with members of the campus community to provide transportation directions information about the Cocky Watch Program.
- Serve as a liaison from residents to police in addressing public safety concerns.
- Provide escorts at night assist motorists work events with large crowds and conduct traffic control.
- Support first responders on calls for service.
- Additional duties as required by the department.
Positions may be filled based on individual applicants skills qualifications and departmental needs.
Adheres to all department and University policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Applicants must be enrolled as a JSU student taking at least three 3 hours per fall or spring semester. (Requirements for international students below. *
- If not a firsttime student the applicant must have a GPA of 2.00 or higher.
- Selected applicants must provide evidence of student enrollment and GPA (unofficial transcript or printout of enrollment/GPA from MyJSU.

- Passport from their respective country.
