Job Description
A great opportunity to lead European Trade Compliance for a dynamic global instrumentation & technology company that protects water quality around the world.
This will suit an experienced regional/global Trade Compliance Manager who has worked in large complex MNC organizations and is looking to develop a career in a challenging and meaningful environment.
The Opportunity
Based remotely anywhere in Germany and reporting to the Sr. Director Global Transportation Logistics & Trade Compliance the Trade Compliance Manager is responsible for European Trade Compliance serving as the organizations Export Control Officer.
With a significant flow of imported components and exported products Hachs Berlin manufacturing operation is critical to ensure the timely delivery of highquality products to customers around the world. The Trade Compliance Manager will lead a small team and operate as a Subject Matter Expert providing guidance for the business and answering questions.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Trade Compliance department ensuring technical and personnel excellence
Serve as the companys Export Control Officer taking personal responsibility for compliance
Handle applications for export licenses (dual use) and provide information on the goods list
Ensure adherence to German export control laws and the PIC Agreement (Rotterdam Agreement)
Oversee compliance with US export control laws and monitor EU and US sanctions and embargoes
Maintain uptodate customs authorizations (authorized exporter approved exporter deferred payment and AEOF)
Act as the main point of contact for the customs office during foreign trade and import audits
Process and review import declarations including tax assessments
Possess indepth knowledge of customs tariffs for goods classification and VAT assessment within the EU
Perform specific origin calculations for large projects
Develop work instructions for the Trade Compliance area
Utilize key performance indicators (daily management) to maintain and improve Trade Compliance processes
Foster employee engagement and development through regular P4G discussions
Conduct internal employee training on customsrelated export control topics (AEO relevant)

The Ideal Candidate:
Trade Compliance Manager with regional/global experience gained in high volume import/export environments in MNCs
A wealth of experience in import/export (EU and US export control law) and customs with personnel responsibility
A leader who develops exceptional teams and holds a pragmatic balance for managing risk
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills (fluent English & fluent/advanced German)
Regularly participates in seminars on customs and import/export control topics
