Position Overview:
The Lead Statistician works with multidisciplinary research teams to provide methodological expertise leadership and strategic support at all stages of projects from planning to completion. This individual provides guidance to junior and middle level staff or works independently on projects requiring advanced statistical analysis interpretation and dissemination of findings.
This is a fully remote based role.
Essential Functions):
Statistical Analysis Plan (SAP) Development
Drafts SAPs for projects that require use of advanced statistical methodologies
Advises junior and middle level staff on methodology and approach on projects requiring use of standard statistical methodologies
Reviews and approves SAPs projects that require use of standard statistical methodologies
Implementation & Interpretation of Analyses
Project Lead (including of analyses) on project requiring the use of advanced statistical methodologies
Provides guidance and advice as needed for junior and midlevel staff on projects requiring use of standard statistical methodologies
Proposal Writing and Report Preparation
Leads proposal development in familiar projecttypes or takes a supportive role for more complex projects
Determines technical approach reviews proposal drafts and takes responsibility of stats components
Gets involved in client discussions
Obtains significant levels of repeat business from clients
May lead technical response to requests for proposals generates repeat work and amendments
May identify opportunities for new work
May advise and peerreview budget
Communication with internal/external Clients
Leads meetings and discussions with clients
Acts as an escalation point for client concerns related to the project
Communicate effectively and proactively with project teams
Ability to work with and delegate to junior and midlevel staff responsible for deliverable quality and integrity
Reviews and supports presentations by more junior staff
Consulting Expectations
Provides onthespot problemsolving and consulting in discussions of results
Provides methodological expertise within and outside the team
Methodological Development
Contributes to the conceptualization and development of novel/bespoke solutions to meet client project needs
Independently investigates the properties applicability and advantages/disadvantages of both:
Methodologies developed by Evidera as bespoke solutions to client projects
Newly published methodologies and seeks senior input when needed
May lead the development of parts of tools/macros that improve efficiency of project seeking senior input when needed
Provides technical training on the developed tools within HEMA
Scientific Presence
Develops and implements scientific best practices/guidelines product development/new methods or deliverable standards
Supports external thought leadership through publications and workshops
Looks for opportunities to disseminate knowledge
Financial Responsible for achieving utilization and proposal and sales target
Management Can supervise and mentor junior and middle level staff involvement in hiring and development of staff conducting performance reviews.
Education Professional Skills & Experience
Bachelors plus 10 years handson experience Masters plus 6 years handson experience or Doctorate plus 3 years handson experience in Biostatistics Statistics or Related field
Strong basis in fundamental statistical concepts and methods and expertise with techniques such as regression analysis (continuous binary count data) longitudinal data analysis (mixed effects linear regression) parametric and semiparametric survival analysis metaanalysis indirect treatment comparisons issues related to missing data etc.
Practical experience in standard statistical applications in health economics such as
Standard parametric and semiparametric survival analyses
Flexible parametric models (spline piecewise)
ITC methods (Bucher network metaanalyses NMA matchingadjusted indirect comparisons MAICs simulated treatment comparisons)
Countryspecific utility analyses to inform CEMs
Familiarity with complex methods including:
Projecting incomplete survival data using Bayesian parametric survival models with informative priors
Adjustment for treatment switching (rank preserving structural failure time inverse probability of censoring weighting twostage estimation)
Mixture cure models
Multistate models
Multilevel network metaregression and fractional polynomial NMA
Surrogacy analyses
Strong statistical programming skills with standard software including R and/or STATA/SAS
Ability to communicate analysis plans and results to clients or colleagues who may have limited background in statistics
Scientific visibility in terms of authorship of peerreviewed publications podium presentations and posters at conferences

Demonstrates sound professional judgment in analyzing responding to and resolving enquiries issues and escalations
Work well in a team as well as independently and be able to take leadership role with regard to methodological elements in projects.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and document information effectively in written English including the ability to produce reports documents emails and other written pieces which are wellorganized free from errors and are appropriately adjusted to the characteristics and needs of the audience.
Able to create communicate and manage effective project plans that support the delivery of overall project objective(s); to identify manage and guide project team members; to monitor and report on progress in an organized fashion; and to deliver the required results.
