Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Provide students with behavior activities and support that lead to positive experiences in the learning environment to help them fulfil their potential for academic intellectual emotional physical and social growth. Enable students to develop behavioral and social competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university.
  • Eligible for a valid Texas teaching certificate appropriate for teaching assignment (Standard Provisional or OneYear certificates only; ACP candidates on a probationary certificate do not qualify); must be grade level certified.
  • Minimum of three 3 years of successful experience as a classroom teacher PBIS experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills and strategies.
  • Must be willing to obtain and maintain a current automated external defibrillator (AED) CPIand CPR certificate.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of core academic subjects.
  • Knowledge of Social Skill instruction and behavior modification programs.
  • Ability to develop and implement positive behavior supports for students in their classrooms.
  • Ability to facilitate small group and individual social and behavior lessons.
  • Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of effective DMC procedures.
  • Develop Student Support plans and contracts for students.
  • Ensure that components of PBIS and other management systems are in place for campus.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Probationary/Term Contract: 187 days

The position is open to current elementary/middle school teachersand external applicants.

SALARY:

Pay Grade T60 (Teacher Classification) as approved by the Board of Trustees
