Job Description

ASSISTANT HEALTH SERVICES ADMIN

SITE OF SERVICE:

Fort Bliss Detention Center

POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

Degree: Graduate from an accredited college or university with a degree in nursing or in a healthcare/business related field is required

Additional Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) hands on certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Experience: Two 2 years relevant management experience in a healthcare environment required

U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen

English Language Requirement: Able to read write and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.

Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.

DUTIES:

  • Must demonstrate a knowledge of correctional custody methods and techniques pertinent facility rules regulations and standards principles and practices of supervision and training and principles and practices of management; and the ability to apply the specialized principles and practices of health care management in directing a health care delivery system

The Assistant Health Services Administrator (Assistant HSA) manages the facilitys medical program activities and the administrative management of the facilitys health care delivery system

Under direction of the Health Services Administrator this position provides direction and leadership based on company goals objectives and in compliance with all applicable policies procedures laws regulations and standards

The successful candidate should be able to perform ALL of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job performance requirements

Manages the clinical services administrative services pharmacy and medical support services for the facility

Communicates responsibilities authorities and accountability to direct reports

Analyzes health care and fiscal data and advises leadership on trends and indicators

Recommends changes to management on health care delivery procedures

Maintains a positive working relationship with facility staff nursing staff contract providers and outside provider agencies

Maintains positive relations with outside groups such as hospitals accrediting agencies and public health officials and organizations

Contributes to the development and implementation of both long and short term policies and plans for the health care delivery system

Supervises subordinate staff in the performance of their duties and evaluates as prescribed by company policy

This includes but is not limited to training new employees providing inservice training mentoring motivating staff evaluating performance and preparing written performance appraisals listening to concerns and effectively resolving disputes or issues taking corrective or disciplinary action developing work schedules and approving leave requests

Ensures staff have required licensure certifications and insurance as needed

Monitors the overall health care budget and advises program managers finance staff and leadership of projected shortages and program adjustments needed

Coordinates and evaluates internal review systems to ensure clinical and administrative activities are in compliance with relevant standards

Conducts internal audits of processes and procedures

Prepares for and participates in external audits

Develops and monitors corrective action plans

HOURS:

Shifts are scheduled for 8 hours per day

BASE DOWN DAYS:

During a planned closure of the facility due to training closures before or after holidays family down days Employee will only be compensated for the actual hours clinic is closed and employee is not able to work employee will be required to use leave or take LWOP (without penalty).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS

Must be comfortable in a fastpaced dynamic be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous and able to work with various work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fastpaced demanding environment.
