Duties and responsibilities
Present lectures tutorials smallgroup discussions and practical training sessions in Human Physiology for undergraduate students in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Present lectures seminars and tutorials in Human Physiology for postgraduate students in medicine and the health professions.
Facilitate smallgroup discussions and practical sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Involvement in curriculum development and module management in modules presented to undergraduate and postgraduate students in health professions.
Participate in the departmental research programme and postgraduate supervision.
Inherent Job Requirements:
Lecturer:
A PhD degree on NQF Level 10 in the field of Human Physiology (for a permanent appointment).
OR
A Masters degree on NQF Level 9 in the field of Human Physiology (contract appointment: 5 years during which a PhD on NQF Level 10 in the field of Human Physiology must be obtained to be converted into a permanent position).
Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
Provide evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals.
A good academic record (attach a copy).
Senior Lecturer:
A PhD degree on NQF Level 10 in the field of Human Physiology.
Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research in a specific area of scholarship.
An NRF rating or demonstrate potential for obtaining an NRF rating.
Proven experience in the supervision of graduated masters students.
Proven research record of relevant publications in national and international accredited journals.
Proven experience of service as an active member of a national or international scholarly society or committee or agency concerned with research at higher education levels.
Proven academic work experience in the higher education sector.
Recommendations:
Knowledge of the field of Biochemistry or Clinical Biochemistry.
Proven record of teaching Physiology related modules at an undergraduate and/or post graduate level.
Proven experience in laboratory management.
A valid drivers license.
Knowledge of an additional South African language.
