DEFINITION:Observes an assigned section of a swimming pool to preserve order prevent accidents and effect rescues.SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:
ABILITY:Candidates must have the ability to swim 300 yards in 6 minutes and 30 seconds or less.
CERTIFICATIONS*: Certification resulting from the successful completion of the Department of Parks and Recreation Lifeguard Training Program that is a minimum of 64 hours and consisting of:
LICENSE:A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out jobrelated essential functions.
PHYSICAL CLASS: 4 Arduous. This class involves frequent heavy lifting over 25 pounds often combined with bending twisting or working above ground on irregular surfaces. It includes those positions that occasionally demand extraordinary physical activity such as those in Safety positions.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:EXAMINATION CONTENT: This examination will consist of confirming applicants possess all of the required certifications weighted 100.
Candidates must provide proof of possession of the required certifications in order to be placed on the Eligible Register.
ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION:
The names of candidates receiving a passing grade in the examination will be placed on the eligible register in the order of their score group for a period of six 6 months following the date of promulgation. Applications will be processed on an asreceived basis and promulgated to the eligible register accordingly.
