The School of Education & Human Development at the University of Colorado Denver is a statewide and national leader for educational quality access and equity across the education lifespan from birth through higher education. We are currently recruiting for the following course: SPSYApplications of School Psychology Foundations. This is a face to face course that meets on the CU Denver campus in Fall 2025 or possibly in future semesters.
This course covers topics related to the legal and ethical practice of school psychology including landmark legal rulings best practices in special education functional behavior assessment and behavior intervention plans and ethical decision making. Practicum II in the schools is required while students are taking this course.
Lead class lectures discussions and develop and grade assignments
Maintain gradebook and assignments via Canvas
Maintain availability for students via email
Attend School Psychology faculty meetings one to two times per year
Provide feedback about student performance to the Program Director
Have the option of participating in program admissions interviews
This position involves working closely with students where the person may become aware of campus safety issues that may need to be reported as part of CUs commitment to compliance with the Clery Act. The person in this role will receive the related training and be required to submit data once per year to the campus Clery Act team. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Earned doctoral degree in School Psychology or highly related field
Experience delivering school psychological services to children in schools
Licensure: School psychologist license
At least three years practice as a school psychologist
Licensure as a psychologist
Experience conducting functional behavioral assessments and developing behavior intervention plans in the school setting
Knowledge of special education law (both IDEA and CECEA)
Knowledge of NASP and APA ethical standards
This position requires an onsite presence on campus 1 day approximately every other week.
The ability to use hands to manipulate a keyboard and mouse and have good near vision for computer work
