The Department of Sociology at the University of Virginia invites applications for a tenuretrack Assistant or Associate Professor position specializing in the sociology of health and medicine. We seek a theoretically engaged scholar whose work uses quantitative qualitative or mixed methodological approaches to study health as a societal issue examining aspects that might include but are not limited to the interplay between health systems and patient experiences the changes technology brings to healthcare provision and delivery and the systemic origins of health disparities.
The successful candidate will participate in the University of Virginias (UVA) Precision Medicine/Precision Health Grand Challenge initiative. UVAs 2030 plan recognizes Precision Medicine/Precision Health as a major societalchallengeand an opportunity for multidisciplinary work that draws on our existing strengths. In partnership the Provost and the deans of various schools are making multiple coordinated faculty recruitments to strengthen the research community focusing on Precision Health for Populations across the University.

Minimum Requirements Assistant Professor
Education: Ph.D. or terminal degree. ABD may be accepted.

Education: Ph.D. or terminal degree.
