How will I help

As the Senior Manager Risk Governance you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining clear and consistent governance practices to support the accountabilities of the BTFG Chief Risk Office. You will manage compliance with the relevant Prudential Standards and review Westpac Group Risk and Compliance Frameworks and Policies and establishment of BTFG subsidiary Board specific addendums (where required). You will be required to maintain the Westpac Group framework and policy approval approach for the BTFG subsidiary Boards and coordinate the Line 2 Risk training agenda supporting the processes that enable adherence to the applicable accountability obligations.

You will develop and maintain good governance practices to support overarching risk and compliance processes frameworks and templates in assisting the Line 2 Risk Compliance and Assurance team to execute the core competency of Voice of Risk Oversight and Insight Synthesise and Report. This includes ensuring relevant group initiatives and relevant prudential requirements are successfully embedded within the broader Line 2 Risk team. Other key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing BTFG specific Line 2 Risk insight to develop and continually refine internal policies procedures guidelines and plans in ensuring compliance with legal requirements and address issues emerging from reviews or other learnings deriving from experience in the current and emerging regulatory and market environment.
  • Effective embedment and continuous improvement of the Line 2 Risk operating model through the promotion of policy and framework awareness specifically as it relates to the Line 2 Risk role and responsibilities. This will be further achieved through the coordination and delivery of the Line 2 Risk Learning Calendar which aims to provide business acumen and Wealth specific technical knowledge.
  • Effective delivery of high quality accurate and insightful Line 2 Risk reporting to meet the needs of BT Financial Group its Boards and Boarddelegated Committees. This is achieved through the delivery of the established Line 2 Risk reporting suite in line with obligation control and policy requirements and oversight and insight reporting.
  • Supporting the risk deliverables of the BTFG CRO including assurance activities and reporting to the subsidiary Boards and Boarddelegated Committees on relevant risk matters as well as providing operational support for business management activities. Working with BTFG Company Secretariat to deliver relevant requests and actions of the BTFG Chief Risk Office made by the subsidiary Boards.
  • Support the Head of and Executive Manager (Assurance and Governance)in engaging senior management consistent with the Three Lines of Defence model providing proactive reliable and relevant strategic advice to address business needs manage issues and promote the interests and strategic objectives of BTFG.
  • Supportmatters of regulatory engagement to ensure that matters are dealt with in a professional and timely manner and met the expectations of these key stakeholders (e.g. APRA / ASIC).
  • Support theengagement with external audit for compliance audit procedures that are required to be undertaken for the various entities.
  • Provide internal stakeholders with practical commercially focused risk and compliance advice seeking solutions consistent with the objectives risk appetite and tolerances and governance frameworks of BTFG and Westpac.
  • Demonstrate leadership within the team and work independently to drive performance collaborate with BT Risk (one team) and business colleagues.

What do I need

To be successful in this role you will come from or have a strong interest in a compliance and governance role. You will be passionate about influencing outcomes and culture through frameworks policy and regulatory awareness. You will have ideally 10 years experience in financial services with a deep understanding of the superannuation risk and compliance environment. You will have strong risk and compliance management experience with experience in obligation risk and control management. You will also have:

  • Experience in risk management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral with the ability to articulate key insights and recommendations to convey complex risk and compliance related information in a clear and concise manner.
  • A strong ability todevelop and maintain strong working relationships and be able to appropriately elicit information challenge and influence stakeholders to enable the successful achievement of outcomes.
  • An understanding of relevant laws regulations and prudential standards underpinning the Wealth business.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a businessrelated discipline.
