Data Center Rack Operations Trainee

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design planning delivery and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words were the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers storage networking power and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Youll join a diverse team of software hardware and network engineers supply chain specialists security experts operations managers and other vital roles. Youll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. The Decommissioning Technical team is responsible for processing and facilitating large scale legacy Data Center equipment through a liquidation process to ensure that targeted equipment is ready to be removed from the premises. Team members will also process large volumes of customer data to ensure that all customer data is sanitized and properly managed.

Team members will be working in a team environment not only with other members of the team but also from other teams and must be able to communicate and promote crossteam functionality.

Amazon Data Centers takes customer data with the utmost importance and selected candidates must be able to perform repetitive tasks without variance and adhere to strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that ensures customer data is protected and properly handled.

Key job responsibilities
Decommissioning legacy IT hardware
Operate HDD and SSD destruction machinery.
Installation removal and destruction of server storage and network devices
Updating progress through a web ticketing system and documenting procedures.
This position also has a physical component requiring the ability to lift & rack equipment using our lifting equipment.

Familiarity with basic PC components/hardware:
HDD/SSD/Flash/Removable storage media
USB/FireWire/E sata
Ram/CPU/Motherboard/InputOutput devices

High school or equivalent diploma
STEM classes or vocational course curriculum education
Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications
Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system and coordination with Manager

Knowledge of computer hardware components and operating systems
