As the Communication Officer for Australian BioCommons youll play a pivotal role in promoting and fostering the uptake of cuttingedge bioinformatics services. Youll have the opportunity to develop and implement communication strategies that bridge the gap between researchers and advanced digital infrastructures. Your work tasks will change every day as you directly contribute to a vibrant team around Australia who is enhancing Australias digital life science research capabilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and Implement Communication Strategies: Create and execute communication plans for BioCommons services working closely with team members and partners.
  • Manage MultiChannel Communications: Coordinate BioCommons presence across web video newsletters and social media platforms.
  • Organise and Promote Events: Play a key role in administering and advertising BioCommons training events.
  • Create Engaging Content: Produce targeted communications for various strategic uses collaborating on stakeholder engagement and internal communications.

You may be a great fit if:

You are a skilled communicator with a background in science communication or stakeholder engagement capable of translating complex technical information into engaging content for diverse audiences across multiple platforms.

You may also:

  • Have a degree in communications or science communication or have extensive experience in the field.
  • Have experience working with complex technical subject matter preferably in a research environment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in producing targeted communications for print digital and social channels.
  • Excel in verbal and written communication with strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Have advanced organisational skills with a keen eye for detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Be familiar with communication tools such as Zoom Webinar Squarespace and social media platforms.

Your new team Faculty of Medicine Dentistry and Health Sciences Faculty of Medicine Dentistry & Health Sciences has an enviable research record and is the University of Melbournes largest faculty in terms of management of financial resources employment of academic and professional staff teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate (including research higher degree) students and the conduct of basic and applied research. The Facultys annual revenue is $630m with approximately 55 of this income related to research activities.

The Faculty has a student teaching load in excess of 8500 equivalent fulltime students including more than 1300 research higher degree students. The Faculty has approximately 2195 staff comprising 642 professional staff and 1553 research and teaching staff.

The Faculty has appointed Australias first Associate Dean (Indigenous Development) to lead the development and implementation of the Facultys Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) which will be aligned with the broader University wide plan. To enable the Faculty to improve its Indigenous expertise knowledge base the Facultys RAP will address Indigenous employment Indigenous student recruitment and retention Indigenous cultural recognition and building partnerships with the Indigenous community as key areas of development.
