The Instructional Assistant Special Education (Behavior Intervention) assists certificated staff by reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students with significant aggressive and/or other behavioral difficulties in a classroom setting job site and/or community based program using intensive behavioral management techniques intervention strategies coping skills and problem solving techniques. This classification also implements plans for instruction monitors student behavior documents activities and progress and performs a variety of other related instructional support duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications
Six months of jobrelated experience working with children either paid or volunteer.
CPR and First Aid Certification from an accredited organization such as the Red Cross or American Heart Association.Online First Aid certificates are acceptable however CPR certificate must include hands on classroom training.

This recruitment is posted as continuous filing due to anticipated vacancies throughout the school year.
The competitive basis for this recruitment is established as dual certification. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications participate in the following examinations: Multiple Choice test (math and English) waived for candidates who have an AA or higher degree weight: 75 and essay test weight: 25.
Candidates who pass the exams are placed on an eligibility list in order of overall exam score. Candidate names will be merged onto an existing list based on overall exam score each time the exam is administered. The eligibility list is used to fill vacancies withing a six month period.
If a candidate has taken the multiple choice and/or performance test for this San Dieguito Union High School District job title or similar job title within the past two years candidate may be able to transfer the scores to this recruitment. The probationary period for a new or promotional employee is six months or 130 days of paid service whichever is longer. Management employees serve a probationary period of one year.
