Job Description

Job Overview

We are looking for a motivated BAS Engineering Intern to join our team in San Jose CA. This internship offers handson experience with Building Automation Systems that support HVAC lighting energy management and other smart building technologies. As an intern youll work alongside experienced BAS engineers and project managers to support the design programming and implementation of control systems across a variety of commercial and industrial projects.

Youll assist with tasks such as developing control drawings configuring system components supporting field commissioning and helping maintain project documentation. This role is ideal for a junior or senior engineering student with a strong interest in automation controls and energyefficient building technologies. A successful intern will be detailoriented eager to learn and ready to collaborate on innovative solutions that enhance building performance and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist BAS engineers in the design programming and implementation of Building Automation Systems for HVAC and energy management.
  • Support the preparation of control system drawings wiring diagrams and sequences of operations.
  • Help program test and troubleshoot control systems and components under supervision.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings with engineering construction and commissioning teams.
  • Assist with equipment and materials selection and help prepare submittals and documentation.
  • Conduct field visits to assist with system startup testing and verification.
  • Support the integration of various building systems (HVAC lighting access control) into a centralized BAS platform.
  • Aid in the development and documentation of control logic schematics and operator interfaces.
  • Maintain clear records of design revisions testing results and field observations.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a junior or senior in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Strong interest in building automation control systems and smart building technologies.
  • Familiarity with control system platforms (e.g. Tridium Johnson Controls Siemens etc. is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC systems and their control strategies.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Visio or similar tools is helpful.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a teamoriented environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a dynamic fastpaced industry.
