Job Description

Body Shop Upholstery Technician III HS 7 $17.92/hour minimum

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED
  2. Knowledge of NHTAS FMCRS and FMVSS regulation preferred.
  3. Minimum of two 2 years related experience in body shop preferred.
  4. Possess or have the ability to obtain and maintain a Texas CDLminimum Class B with P & S endorsement with acceptable driving record as measured by the Texas School Bus Drivers Record Evaluation Criteria within ninety 90 days of employment.
  5. Obtain Texas School Bus Driver certification within six 6 months of employment.
  6. Ability to safely operate a school bus and drive routes with students.
  7. Proficiency in English communication in verbal and written form.
  8. Knowledge of metal fabrication preferred.
  9. Knowledge of paint and chemical process mixtures preferred.
  10. Ability to repair damaged seats and upholstery.
  11. Ability to work with different materials including vinyl and foam.
  12. Ability to learn how to sew and operate commercial sewing machines.
  13. Physical ability to lift/move heavy equipment (at least 80 pounds safely and a minimum of 5 times per shift) vehicle parts and tools; work in various temperatures and weather conditions; work on concrete floors; and to walk stand climb carry stoop bend kneel and reach.
  14. Must be able to operate computers and diagnostic software preferred.
  15. Must be able to diagnose vehicle safety features.
  16. Ability to work irregular hours including nights and weekends.
  17. Possess own hand tools appropriate for position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Perform basic maintenance and service on district motor vehicles.
  2. Perform work with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with industry standards.
  3. Thoroughly examine the vehicle damage(s).
  4. Under supervision remove and replace body panels.
  5. Under supervision repair dents with appropriate tools.
  6. Under supervision straighten pull bend and/or grind various body panels and sheet metal.
  7. Under supervision fill dents with body filler; file grind and sand repairs surfaces.
  8. Under supervision apply primer using spray guns; rub down surfaces between coats.
  9. Under supervision file grind and sand repaired surfaces using power tools and hand tools.
  10. Under supervision able to repair and refinish fiberglass and composite parts.
  11. Replace bolts on panels and align properly.
  12. Under supervision use computer and diagnostic systems.
  13. Repair damaged seats/seat cover.
  14. Remove graffiti from seats interior exterior and all surfaces.
  15. Under supervision work with appropriate cleaners to remove stains from fabrics and materials.
  16. Remove track seats from buses as needed.
  17. Under supervision operate commercial sewing machines.
  18. Under supervision sew and fabricate seat covers from patterns and materials.
  19. Work with different types of foams to repair equipment.
  20. Practice safe work procedures at all times.
  21. Use safety equipment when performing job functions.
  22. Maintain proper documentation and work orders.
  23. Perform as substitute driver/attendant as required.
  24. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
  25. Perform other duties as assigned.

Body Shop Upholstery Technician II HS 8 $19.80/hour minimum

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED
  2. Knowledge of NHTAS FMCRS and FMVSS regulation.
  3. Minimum of three 3 years related experience in body shop.
  4. Possess or have the ability to obtain and maintain a Texas CDLminimum Class B with P & S endorsement with acceptable driving record as measured by the Texas School Bus Drivers Record Evaluation Criteria within ninety 90 days of employment.
  5. Obtain Texas School Bus Driver certification within six 6 months of employment.
  6. Obtain ASE Collision Certifications within eighteen 18 months of employment.
  7. Ability to safely operate a school bus and drive routes with students.
  8. Proficiency in English communication in verbal and written form.
  9. Demonstrate knowledge of automotive body preparation procedures including basic spraypainting techniques for automotive refinishing preferred.
  10. Knowledge of metal fabrication cutting welding/brazing different metals.
  11. Demonstrate knowledge of paint and chemical process mixtures.
  12. Knowledge of seat repair and upholstery.
  13. Experience working with different materials including vinyl and foam.
  14. Basic knowledge of sewing and operating commercial sewing machines.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Moderate walking standing climbing heavy lifting carrying stooping bending kneeling and reaching. Work outside and inside aroundmachinery with moving parts. Frequent exposure to dampness and humidity toxic chemicals exhaust fumes gasoline and diesel fuel.
