Job Description
Salary Information
Compensation plans are based on a multistep progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.
**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies**
Nature of Work
The fundamental reasonthis classification exists is to manage and coordinate the public informationand community relations functions of the County Commission. Publicaffairs programs include governmental affairs community relations crisiscommunication public information media relations and employeerelations. The primary work responsibilities may include creatingdesigning and updating public information materials; maintaining anddisseminating information utilizing technology and social media; coordinatingand promoting special events and programs; providing strategic and technicalpublic relations assistance to the County Administrator and Commissioners;managing governmental affairs; managing community relations activities; anddeveloping and executing short and longterm public affairs/communicationsstrategies. The incumbent interacts with a variety of individuals toinclude elected officials senior level staff department heads news mediaand government officials on issues relating to the County is performed with considerable latitude and independence of judgment anddecision making regarding program development and management. The Manager ofPublic Affairs receives supervision from the Deputy Administrator.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree inCommunications Journalism Marketing Public Affairs Public Relations or arelated field and five 5 years of experience in the field of public affairspublic relations or communications.
NOTE:Qualifying education trainingand experience that provide the requisite knowledge skills and abilities toperform the job will be considered.
Special Requirements
Must have a valid driverslicense to conduct work activities. Must be willing to work after normalwork hours for emergency situations or other public meetings.
