This role is MonFri 8am to 5pm
JOB SUMMARY
Jabil is looking for a Photonics/Optical Test Development Engineer to become part of its growing Test Engineering a Test Development Engineer you will be responsible for developing test solutions for photonics/optics products; including developing the test strategy and test plan selecting/sourcing test equipment and test fixtures/hardware developing the test automation software and deploying the completed test solutions worldwide at Jabil manufacturing sites and/or design verification labs.
You will work closely with customers and Jabils extended crossfunctional teams (R&D Manufacturing Program Management Quality) to deliver optimized manufacturing test solutions for both customer and Jabildesigned products. You will also support R&D in evaluating performance of early product releases.
You will be a strong team player and play a critical member in defining future test strategies for the Photonics Test Engineering team at Jabil.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and optimize manufacturing test strategies for new and existing photonics products.
- Develop manufacturing and/or design verification test plans for optimal test coverage test time and cost efficiency. Develop test capacity analyses for product demand forecasts provided by Sales/Business Managers.
- Develop test hardware solutions including selection of test equipment and design of test fixtures/test PCBAs.
- Develop test software solutions including test automation scripts operator GUI and data analysis using software languages such as Python C# MATLAB etc.
- Verify test station operation performance stability and robustness.
- Perform handson design verification testing (DVT) of prototypes in R&D labs when requested. Maximize reuse of DVT software for subsequent manufacturing test solution.
- Generate test documentation such as test plans test hardware requirements and descriptions test software requirements/descriptions test equipment lists test procedures debug/troubleshooting manuals test capacity analysis training plans etc.
- Provide test/diagnostics training to technicians test operators and other test engineers as required.
- Support root cause analysis/troubleshooting activities on NPI and volume product in test. Analyze test data to determine issues with product test performance and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in developing budgets quoting new projects and estimating cost impact of change requests.
- Collaborate with extended teams to develop project schedules and execute projects to completion.
Development of test solution quotes:
Development and definition of test strategy for new or challenging products/technologies
Test solution quotes typically include but are not limited to:
o Price and schedule commitment
o Hardware Software and Documentation package description
o Specification of tester validation criteria and required customer deliverables.
The process of developing test solution quotes includes but is not limited to:
o Use of the automated quote system and quote tools.
o Completion of quotes onschedule

MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Typically reports to Manager Test Engineering
- Coaches other team members and participates in guiding and implementing best test practices throughout the organization.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Mandatory Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in the testing of photonics technology (devices modules line cards shelves etc.
- Strong knowledge English (both spoken and written). Able to converse on technical topics in English and to prepare and present reports in English.
- Good understanding of manufacturing test strategies for optical products.
- Good understanding of the differences between manufacturing test and design verification test.
- Experience with standard test equipment used for test and characterization of fiberoptic products such as bit error rate testers optical power meters optical amplifiers optical spectrum analyzers wavelength meters etc.
- Good understanding of fundamental optical concepts such asoptical poweropticalpower loss/gain optical wavelength/spectrum polarizationpolarization dependent lossoptical signaltonoise ratio etc.
- Good understanding of key test and measurement concepts utilized in optical characterization of transmitters receivers and transceivers such as bit error rate eye diagram characterization jitter etc.
Beneficial Requirements:
- Experience with developing test automation software/scripts using standard software languages such as Python MATLAB Test Stand LabVIEW C/C C#
- Experience with testing pluggable transceivers such as SFP QSFP OSFP CFP2/CFP4 etc.
- Experience with support of manufacturing sites where optical products are built and tested.
- Some experience with functional testing ofPCBAs is desirable.
- Experience in developing costeffective test stations for volume manufacturing.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors degree required in an engineering discipline from a college or university related to a technology field
- Minimum 5 years experience in a test development environment
- Or an equivalent combination of education training or experience
- Up to 15 travel as business requires typically international
