Position:Home Instruction Support Teacher

Objective/Summary:
The home instruction support teacher provides instructional services in the homes of students enrolled in the Kingman Unified School District as either Homebound or AHAP (Alternative Home Administrative Placement). Homebound students are unable to attend school due to medical conditions that prevent them from attending a school. AHAP students are placed in the program as a result of a Board Hearing or by the Director of Special Education. A flexible work schedule is required for teachers in this program.

Skills Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple highly complex technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: applying assessment instruments; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; teaching Arizona State recognized standards; preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information compose a variety of documents and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: appropriate codes policies regulations and/or laws; age appropriate activities; lesson plan requirements; stages of child development.
ABILITY is required to gather collate and/or classify data; and use jobrelated equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize specific jobrelated equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: establishing and maintaining constructive relationships; adapting to changing work priorities; maintaining confidentiality; exhibiting tact and patience; working flexible hours.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a small work unit; utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the jobs functions. There is some opportunity to significantly impact the organizations services.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling significant stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 80 sitting 10 walking and 10 standing. Incumbent must be able to drive to and from district sites students homes and other agencies to provide services (transportation reimbursed or district car).

KUSDs minimum and maximum new hire salary ranges for teachers include the districts contracted salary determined by years of experience and higher education plus $6750 in statefunded Prop 301 money. The contracted salary in combination with the $6750 in 301 money creates the base wages for teachers which are representedby the salary addition to base pay certified teaching staff are eligible for an additional $3750 in Prop 301 performance pay. The total Prop 301 money for teachers in 202425 is expected to be $10500. Prop 301 money is paid separately and not included in the employment contract.
Candidates offered and accepting critical needs teaching positions in math science and kindergarten may be eligible to receive a onetime $2000 stipend. Candidates offered and accepting critical needs teaching positions in special education may be eligible to receive a onetime $5000 stipend and are eligible for an additional case management stipend in FY 202425 of up to $4000.All critical needs stipends are pending appropriate teaching certification.

For those who enjoy a smaller community but like a big city nearby Las Vegas is approximately an hour and a half northwest of Kingman which is great for day or weekend trips! For those who love fishing or water activities Bullhead City is a short 30 minute drive and located on the Colorado River. If you like nature you have the opportunity to enjoy the spring flowers just outside Oatman AZ approximately 30 minutes west of Kingman and also get to experience forestry and wildlife yearround including snow in the winter just 20 minutes away in the Hualapai Mountains. Also Lake Havasu City AZ is only one hour away from Kingman and is a hot spot for tourism and a popular location during Spring Break.
