Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

(Eligible for Hybrid/ 3 days in office Alexandria VA)

The Director Impact Partnerships and Policy Communications creates and executes integrated communications plans to support programs government partnerships and public policy work that advance the United Way networks capacity to drive community impact at scale.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Creation and management of communications plans:Create and execute communications plans to advance United Ways 211 network government partnerships and public policy work as well as supporting areas of work including community resiliency and disaster response.
  • Content development: In service to UWWs integrated content strategy source draft and/or edit internal and externalfacing content related to United Ways four impact areas (Healthy Community Financial Security Youth Opportunity and Community Resiliency) government partnerships that drive impact work and public policy priorities that support United Ways impact agenda.
  • Writing and editing:Develop marketing and communications materials such as impact stories scripts direct emails intranet and website content social media content toolkits fact sheets FAQs PowerPoint presentations and other tools as needed.
  • Event communications:lead communications for all events related to relevant subject matter areas including Advocacy Forum and 211 Forum.
  • Data analytics and insights:Understand programmatic data and ensure appropriate integration of data points into Marketing and communications efforts. Analyze performance of communications and relevant tools/assets to inform future approaches to communications strategies.
  • Organization and project management: Ensure consistent excellence in work quality and accountability for multiple deadlines through clear project management practices including use of tools for project sequencing (Smartsheet) and collaboration (Microsoft Teams).
  • Relationship building: Foster strong professional relationships with colleagues within UWW and across the network and partner to ensure alignment with UWWs marketing and communications strategies and messages.
  • Brand stewardship: Champion the global United Way brand and drive network adoption of brand messaging guidelines marketing assets and related tools and learnings to ensure consistency and effectiveness. Proactively look for and develop new opportunities to elevate the United Way brand.
  • Additional responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned contributing flexibly to the teams overall objectives and initiatives.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum requirements include:

  • Bachelors degree or commensurate experience.
  • A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience translating overarching organizational goals into effective communications strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience developing strategic communications plans targeting multiple audiences as well as success defining and achieving communications metrics/goals.
  • Demonstrated experience writing effective brandaligned content for internal and external audiences.
  • Must be a solutionsoriented strategic thinker and communicator.
  • Must be a strong writer editor and presenter and an effective communications consultant.
  • Strong cultural competencies and ability to effectively communicate to a diverse global audience.
  • Experience using marketing automation tools (e.g. Hubspot)
  • Experience using project planning/project management software (e.g. Smartsheet)
  • Demonstrate proven leadership skills to instill stakeholder confidence in the role and value of strategic communications.
  • Experience developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies for organizations that 1 have a charitable mission 2 are federated/decentralized and/or 3 are global in scope is strongly preferred.

SALARY STATEMENT

The budgeted lifespan salary range for this position is currently $130000 to $145000 per year. Salary is determined by several factors including applicants knowledge skills experience position equity and market.
