DESCRIPTION
Montclair State University (Montclair) is a nationally recognized high research activity (R2 doctoral Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). The College for Education and Engaged Learning (CEEL) and the Department of Educational Foundations (EDFD) offers an exciting opportunity for a specialist in Educational Psychology & Learning Assessment for a nontenure track teaching position 10month; renewable appointments) to meet instructional needs at the undergraduate and graduate levels and provide service to the department/college/university. We are especially interested in a colleague with theoretical knowledge and practical experience in educational psychology and assessment that can be applied towards the preparation of teachers educational leaders and doctoral research methods. This expertise is essential for delivering instruction mentoring students and maintaining highquality academic programs. Scholarly activities such as research and publications are not a feature of this position.
The positionis a twoyear tenmonthnontenure trackappointment with eligibility for reappointment based on established NTTP is committed to the success of Teaching Faculty through opportunities for promotion and professional development to support longterm success and flourishing at the University.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses 4/4 teaching load) in areas such as educational psychology assessment and learning sciences research methods testing and evaluation and analysis of assessment data and/or current issues in education
Oversee course sequencing arrange course scheduling
Periodically review and evaluate program effectiveness
Lead recruitment retention and advisement of students; monitor student progress and timelines to completion
Liaise with relevant centers on campus as well as community partners for program expansion
Integrate current trends in research and practice for program and course development and innovation
Service activities to support the department/college/university
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
Doctoral degree in Educational Psychology or related field required.
Teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels (two or more years preferred).
Demonstrated record of delivering educational assessment and evaluation models for K12 schools.
Demonstrated experience in building partnerships between assessment experts and K12 schools and/or nonschoolbased educational programs.
Grant writing and/or grant administration is a plus.
THE COLLEGE FOR EDUCATION AND ENGAGED LEARNING AND THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATIONS
EDFD faculty teach in a robust undergraduate major with nearly 650 students in the program. Our research methodology and assessment courses are offered to students in a number of the Universitys masters degree and doctoral programs. EDFD delivers a variety of courses designed to prepare public and private school educators administrators community educators and policymakers to meet the educational demands of our diverse and informationrich society. Along with the charge to serve professional and preprofessional educators the department seeks to develop in students from all disciplines a sophisticated understanding of the relationship between education and culture as well as acquire the tools of inquiry that support sound decisionmaking in a variety of contexts.
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience
