The Amazon Robotics Infrastructure Engineering team is looking for a Network Development Engineer (NDE) to join our team. We build and operate the network and services that enable Amazon Fulfillment Centers Middle and Last Mile facilities including Air hubs and PrimeNow to deliver packages to Amazon retail customers. From two million square foot automated robotics fulfillment centers to small lastmile delivery stations in emerging markets these networks are the backbone of Amazon Operations. Hundreds of thousands of associates rely upon these networks at thousands of locations and are critical to the delivery of shipments to Amazon retail customers.
Our mission is to design deploy and support networks that sets the global standard for performance availability security and cost enabling Fulfillment and Logistic operations to deliver on time every customer order. We are looking for a Network Development Engineer to create nextgeneration network products. The team is focused on automating networks from multiple diverse vendors maximizing reliability while minimizing human touch in deployment and maintenance activities. We collaborate closely with IT support teams to ensure that simplicity in our product designs translate to supportability in the field. Information security rigor is at the core of everything we do. You will tackle challenging novel situations every day and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. You should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving problems that havent been solved at scale before. It is expected that you will be technically bold while at the same time being balanced and pragmatic in your approach. The right candidate will have demonstrated experience leading large projects and have an expert level technical background in current networking technologies. As a NDE you will anticipate bottlenecks influence external vendors and internal team roadmaps provide escalation management anticipate and make tradeoffs and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.

About the team
Network Provisioning and Automation NPA team consists of highlyskilled engineers who build all new Amazon fulfillment centers and transportation sites worldwide. These sites are used by hundreds of thousands of associates relied upon by operators of industryleading fulfillment and transportation systems and play a critical role in the delivery of shipments to Amazon retail customers.
Bachelors degree in Engineering or Technology
1 years experience in a network focused handson technical role working with IP routing protocols (interior and exterior) technologies and platforms in large scale data center LAN and/or WAN network environments.
1 years experience developing engineering deployment or operations mechanisms to support IP network and/or networking systems.
1 years experience in a technical oncall capacity responding to customer impacting events mitigating and root cause analysis of those events.
1 years of experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming Infrastructure as Code Ansible
Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking IP routing Server Load Balancing and Network Security architecture and core technologies such as IP TCP OSPF/ISIS BGP MPLS Server Load Balancers Firewalls ACLs DNS DHCP IPAM LDAP NFS etc.
Experience with one or more of the following vendor platforms: Cisco Juniper AlcatelLucent Arista Brocade Extreme Citrix F5 Fortinet Palo Alto etc.
Indepth knowledge of and experience with networking and/or systems technologies.
Knowledge of network hardware and packet forwarding architectures.
Experience working in virtualized enterprise networking environments.
Software development/programming.
Must be comfortable working in a Linux/Unix environment.
Detail oriented excellent analytical skills and a strong team player who works well with immediate and extended team and consistently puts the team above oneself.
