Job Coach/Teacher Assistant
Position Description
Position: Job Coach/Teacher Assistant
Reports to: Transition Coordinator Principal
Terms of Employment: 10 months
Pay Grade: 56
FLSA Status: Nonexempt
Nature of Work
Directly assist OCS students in transitioning into competitive employment through job development communitybased training/coaching and assistance with actual work experiences that are aligned with their postsecondary goals. Employee will supervise students assigned to the OCS program while working within the school setting and out in the community at work sites. Monitoring students behavior while on the school bus in transit to communitybased training job sites and or job searching is also a responsibility of this employee.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- 48 semester credit hours
- Experience in Challenging Behavior/Autism
- Must obtain and maintain a CDL for driving a bus

Essential Functions/Typical Tasks
Performance expectations:
- Provide quality job coaching services that align with the OCS program guidelines and to the OCS students assigned to communitybased & competitive employment placements with integrity and
Goal:
- To provide quality job coaching services that meet the needs of the employers the Occupational Course of Study program and the students that are
Maintain Accurate Documentation:
- Track student CommunityBased Training (CBT) hours and Paid Employment (PE) hours on a daily basis
- Complete evaluations for student progress reports and report cards
- Collect student timesheets on a monthly basis
- Complete Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) case service invoices on a monthly basis
- Complete monthly report including current SchoolBased training (SBT) CBT & PE totals for each student
- Maintain database of potential and current community employers
Communicate:
- Communicate with students teachers guidance counselors Vocational Rehabilitation parents supported employment agencies and community business managers
- Studentschedules status of required hours explaining expectations on the job sites
- Guidance counselorproviding information concerning students who have completed SBT CBT and PE hours
- TeachersNew teacher orientation (explaining OCS job coach program and schedules)
- Vocational Rehabilitationstudent progress/lack of progress interest and dislikes based on CommunityBased training
- Parentsstudent progress/lack of progress information pertinent to student obtaining employment (i.e. ID cards Social Security cards
- Supported Employment (SE) agenciesinformation pertinent to student obtaining employment hours earned while out with the SE job coach
- Community Business Managersemployment needs feedback on student performance feedback on service/partnership with the school
- Power schoolobtain student schedules submit hour for transcripts
Responsibilities to Students:
- Provide transportation for students to training sites during the school day
- Access students employment interest employability and job readiness skills
- Assist students with obtaining state IDs background checks fingerprints and other necessary preemployment
- Assist students with preparing clean neat and appropriate attire for work
- Link student to Vocational Rehabilitation services
Job Development:
- Visit community businesses assess various positions duties and skills required to perform job
- Develop a partnership with business that will allow students to come in and experience onthejob training experiences. Link and coordinate students to selected job
- Once sites established meet regularly with the employer for feedback on student performance.
Job Training:
- Assist students with job research (completing applications interviews and initial training)
- Provide oneonone job training
- Provide transportation to and from training site during the school day and assist with coordinating transportation outside of the school day

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Work collaboratively with the OCS teachers
- Model and provide training on appropriate workrelated habits and behaviors
- Transport students on a county school bus to communitybased training and job search sites (Required to obtain and maintain CDL Bus drivers license)
- Maintain a log of student earned communitybased and paid employment hours
- Ability to communicate with community businesses and develop communitybased job opportunities
- Maintain a list of potential employers for community and/or paid job placements
- Conduct jobsite analysis
- Develop task analysis detailing every step of the job for each job that students will be performing
- Complete a task analysis for each student per job every time the particular job is assigned
- Assess the appropriateness of the student referrals for placement with other agencies
- Develop a placement plan detailing expectations for each assigned job placement
- Perform onsite job coaching/training for student
- Provide ongoing followup services
- Complete individual assessments on student job performance
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands to fingers handle feel or operate objects tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to perform medium work exerting in excess of 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 25 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects. The employee is frequently required to stand walk sit climb balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must meet the physical demands necessary to obtain and maintain a CDL.
Special Requirements
Valid drivers license and a CDL for bus driving
