Other Conditions: On tuition funds; renewable subject to performance and/or funding availability; to begin approximately January 2025 subject to position clearance and availability of funds.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Clerkship Director to administer the required Family Medicine clerkship for all John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) students including the integrity of the curriculum the clinical exposure objective testing and evaluation feedback and when necessary remediation.
  • Teach primary care outpatient service delivery preventive medicine continuity of patient care and common ambulatory problems across the lifespan.
  • Participate in the 3rd and 4th year courses of the JABSOM M.D. Program including coordination and evaluation of medical students as a practicing physician during the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) using standardized patients.
  • Assist in coordinating and participating in Clerkship Diacritics.
  • Provideleadership and/orsupporttotheJABSOMFamilyMedicine InterestGroup(FMIG).
  • Serve as a Family Medicine career advisor.
  • CoordinateannualmidsemesterformativefeedbacksessionsforeachMS3student.
  • Maintain the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) program accreditation as it relates to primary care and outpatient continuity.
  • Serve on various JABSOM/University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) or other medical education committees and administrative functions among others.
  • Participate intheHomelessOutreachandMedicalEducation(HOME) projectclinicsand volunteer activities in service to the community.
  • Performsresearchorcomparable scholarlyactivity.
  • Performs related tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • M.D./D.O. degree from an LCME/AOA (American Osteopathic Association) accredited medical school.
  • Boardcertification bytheAmerican BoardofFamilyPractice(within7years). Eligible for licensure in Hawaii.
  • Appropriateoutpatientmedicineandproceduralskills.
  • Demonstrated ability in teaching and patient care.
  • Poise and good address for meeting and conferring with others.
  • EligibletobecomememberoftheAmericanAcademyofFamilyPhysicians.
Desirable Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years of fulltime professional activity in Family Medicine and have had teaching experience in a family medicine residency program

  • Experience in Family Medicine clerkship program and/or medical student educationCompletion of Academic Development Fellowship
