Job Description

Work directly for our client that provides medical testing services in Central New Jersey.

Cytotechnologist

Procedural Responsibilities:
Responsible for using clinical history and other patient information in arriving at the proper diagnosis for each cytologic specimen
Examine cytology specimens for the presence of abnormal cellular changes and pathogens
Sign out all negative gynecologic cases
Report other cytologic findings such as the presence of microorganisms endocervical component
Evaluate and mark GYN (reactive and reparative abnormal questionable or negative)
Submit reactive and reparative abnormal and questionable GYN cases to a pathologist for final evaluation
Record the results of each GYN slide read on the appropriate form/systems/etc. used in the laboratory in a legible manner
Submit daily workload of negative GYN cases for a minimum of 10 quality control review (including random highrisk cases) by a supervisory qualified cytotechnologist.
Maintain appropriate records
Maintain compliance with workload limits
Maintain microscope in excellent working condition
Participate in continuing education in areas relating to Cytology


Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a cytotechnologist
ASCP certification is preferred
Must have a current passing grade of an annual cytotechnologist proficiency test
Training and proficient with Hologic Thin Prep Imaging System
