Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre Human Resource Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Finance & Operations Start Date: June 1 2025 Salary: $55000 $65000 Schedule: Approx. 40 hours per week 4 days onsite/1 day remoteFulltime FLSA Exempt Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre is located in the Strip District on Liberty Avenue
POSITION SUMMARY
The HR Coordinator is responsible for overseeing various human resources functions including recruitment employee relations benefits administration compliance and performance management. This role ensures the organization maintains a positive work environment adheres to employment laws and supports business objectives through effective HR practices.
Recruitment & Onboarding: - Coordinate the recruitment process including postings screening and interview coordination.
- Work with hiring managers to develop job descriptions and hiring strategies.
- Conduct new hire orientation and ensure smooth onboarding experiences.
- Process clearances.
- Ensure I9 compliance through everify
- Prepare annual contracts for teachers and other fulltime contract based positions.
Employee Relations & Engagement:
- Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HRrelated concerns.
- Support conflict resolution and disciplinary processes in alignment with company policies
- Promote a positive workplace culture through employee engagement initiatives.
- Conduct exit interviews and provide feedback to leadership for continuous improvement
- Understand the various collective bargaining agreements work rules and participate in unionmanagement related activities as appropriate.
Benefits & Payroll Administration:
- Hold the annual Open Enrollment meeting.
- Handle benefit enrollment changes and employee inquiries.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payrollrelated HR actions.
- Administer COBRA.
- Manage leave administration including FMLA disability and other company leave policies.
Compliance & Policy Administration:
- Ensure company policies comply with local state and federal employment laws.
- Assist in updating and communicating HR policies and procedures.
- Maintain personnel files and HR records in compliance with document retention policies.
- Ensure timely preparation and filling of government reports
- Track policy and compliance updates and changes ensuring timely compliance with new requirements.
Performance Management & Training: - Support performance review cycles coaching and development plans.
- Assist in identifying training needs.
HR Administration - Maintain clearance renewal
- Ensure I9 compliance
- Support HR initiatives that drive organizational growth and employee success.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or a related field
- 2 years of HR experience (or relevant work experience) generalist experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices employment laws and compliance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Time management skills and the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects
- Effective organizational skills
- PHR or SHRMCP certification
- Experience in payroll and benefits administration
