- Teaching and following a daily routine
- Organizes and provides developmentally appropriate early childhood education programs; plans and implements curriculum and education for children ranging in age from six weeks to twelve years old
- Adapting the program to suit the needs of the individual child or group
- Provides activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity exploration and problem solving appropriate to the developmental levels and learning styles of children
- Consistently planning innovative ways of keeping children actively engaged
- Writes and compiles individual assessments of each childs development; completes daily inventories child attendance and related reports
- Ensuring the social and emotional growth of the child
- May lead guide and train staff/student employees interns and/or volunteers performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of volunteers as appropriate to the area of operation
- Adhering to the guidelines of the Education Department and State
- Monitoring and supervising the children constantly
- Discuss the programs daily events with family members at dropoff and pickup times
- Assisting the childcare teacher in maintaining a safe and positive environment
- Carry out a daily schedule that incorporates childdirected activity care routines and transitions times
- Preparing and serving meals and snacks
- Engage each child individually each day
- Assisting with sand water or playground activities
- Attend to childrens physical needs for diapering toileting eating and sleeping
- Alerting the childcare teacher to emergencies
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in early child development
- At least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
- Certificate in early childhood education and care (CHC 30113 if pertinent to the state
- Ability to exercise patience when interacting with children
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- Basic computer literacy
- A caring and approachable nature
- Knowledge of early childhood education programs and techniques
- Must meet statespecific guidelines
- Ability to work during the evening and afterhours as needed
- Knowledge of applicable safety procedures
- Ability to provide activities for children that encourage healthy growth
