The Nursing Program is seeking a passionate and experienced Clinical Instructor to support the clinical education of nursing students across various specialties including General Nursing Medical-Surgical Pediatrics and Critical Care. The Clinical Instructor plays a pivotal role in guiding students through real-world clinical experiences ensuring they develop the professional knowledge skills and attitudes required for safe competent and compassionate nursing care.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise nursing students during clinical rotations in diverse healthcare settings including general medical-surgical units pediatric wards critical care units and community care environments.
Guide students in the performance of nursing procedures ensuring safety accuracy and alignment with evidence-based practices.
Create a supportive respectful and professional learning environment to enhance student confidence and competence.
Evaluate student clinical performance providing constructive feedback coaching and assessment based on program competencies.
Ensure adherence to hospital policies ethical guidelines and professional nursing standards.
Maintain accurate documentation of student attendance performance and progression.
Collaborate with nursing faculty and clinical site coordinators to ensure clinical placements meet learning objectives.
Participate in faculty meetings and clinical education discussions.
Assist in identifying students who need additional clinical support and contribute to individualized improvement plans.
Promote the development of critical thinking problem-solving and clinical judgment.
Model professionalism ethical behavior and commitment to lifelong learning.
Support curriculum development and assist in updating clinical education materials.
Help coordinate clinical schedules and ensure students receive a well-rounded experience across specialties.
Teach and reinforce culturally competent patient-centered care principles.
Education:
Bachelor s Degree in Nursing from an accredited university.
Certification or training in Medical-Surgical Pediatrics Critical Care or General Nursing is an asset.
Experience:
1 3 years of clinical experience in general nursing required.
Preferred experience in one or more of the following: pediatrics critical care medical-surgical.
Experience in clinical instruction preceptorship or mentorship is highly desirable.
Skills:
Strong foundation in clinical nursing knowledge and teaching strategies.
Ability to foster student growth in both knowledge and practice.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in computer use and electronic documentation.
Ability to provide leadership and support in clinical education settings.
Strong organizational and evaluation skills.
