About Our Client
Our client is a dynamic non-profit organization committed to advancing gender equity and eliminating sexual and gender-based violence in Nigeria s tertiary institutions. Through research advocacy policy reform and survivor-centred interventions they lead ground-breaking initiatives to drive action towards having a gender equitable society devoid of all forms of sexual and gender-based violence.

About the Role
They are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Research and Policy Officer to join their team in Abuja. This role will be instrumental in generating research-based insights drafting impactful policy documents supporting advocacy campaigns and enhancing the organizations institutional capacity for meaningful policy reform and implementation.

Job description
  • Contribute to the development review and implementation of strategies and policies that promote gender equality and prevent sexual harassment in higher education institutions.
  • Support the creation of high-quality evidence-based research outputs including position papers policy briefs fact sheets and reports that inform and strengthen the organization s advocacy efforts.
  • Conduct policy research and data analysis to generate actionable insights and evidence-based recommendations on addressing sexual harassment in academic settings.
  • Participate in advocacy campaigns aimed at shifting gender-related norms and promoting the adoption of survivor-centred policies and practices.
  • Facilitate internal knowledge-sharing through training sessions workshops and presentations to build the organization s capacity in research and evidence-based advocacy.
  • Support the Research and Policy Lead in providing technical assistance to tertiary institutions in developing and implementing anti-sexual harassment policy frameworks.
  • Track and monitor the implementation and compliance of anti-sexual harassment policies across partner institutions identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Plan and coordinate formal and informal events conferences roundtable discussionsand public forums to promote awareness and encourage policy adoption.
  • Collaborate with the Programs Unit and Product Manager to drive the adoption of survivor-centred reporting and redress mechanisms in tertiary institutions.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing research and program proposals for funding and partnership opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Research and Policy Lead.


Requirements

  • A bachelors degree in Public Policy Political Science Gender Studies Development Studies or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in research policy analysis advocacy or related roles within NGOs think tanks or development organizations.
  • Proficiency in using data collection analytical and visualization tools such as SurveyMonkey Google forms Microsoft Excel SPSS NVivo / / MAXQDA.
  • Familiarity with Nigeria s policy environment and key stakeholders in government and civil society.
  • Capable of managing timelines engaging stakeholders and delivering on multiple tasks.
  • A passion for gender equity and driving systemic change.
