Job Description

Title: Parent Child Plus Early Learning Specialist

Salary: $25.00 per hour

Grant Funded position

Hours: Up to 19 hours per week. Some weekend and evening hours required

Completes a minimum of 16hours of training prior to beginning home visits.

Reports to: PC Director and PC Coordinator

Qualifications: Early Childhood Degree or equivalent

  • Attends and participates in weekly supervisory and training (minimum twohour) staff meetings.
  • Visits with assigned families virtually and/ or in their homes on a twice weekly basis demonstrating reading play and verbal interaction behaviors with toddler and preschool children and their parents or primary caretakers.
  • Completes required paperwork on a weekly basis including preparing written anecdotal reports on each visit and conducting regular child development and parentchild interaction assessments.
  • Keeps all family information confidential except as required by law.

Skill Set/Characteristics

  • Warmth and patience in dealing with toddlers and families.
  • Enjoys working independently and carrying out work responsibilities without daily supervision.
  • Nonjudgmental attitude toward families and other staff.
  • Is flexible in the home setting can respond to a variety of circumstances as they occur and shows good judgment in seeking support and guidance when needed.
  • Interested in learning about the model and in being a lifelong learner.
  • Knows the community they will be working in.
  • Experience working with young children and parents and with communitybased organizations.
  • Shares a language life experiences cultural and community match with the families with whom they will be working.
  • Perform other duties deemed necessary to support program
