Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a Linux Systems Administratorto join our team of qualified diverse individuals. As a Linux Administrator you will be responsible for managing and supporting our customers Linuxbased systems and ensuring their optimal performance. Your experience with ACAS Tenable Nessus and background working in a DoD environment will be crucial in maintaining security compliance and implementing best practices. The ideal candidate will become part of Peratons Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Infrastructure Managed Services (IMS) Program for the US Coast Guard (CG). This initiative is modernizing and consolidating the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CGs customers. As part of the modernization program the Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for proactively leading architecture and development decision making and work effort across the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and ensuring effective transitions to support for ongoing continuous improvement.
This hybrid position can be located in Alexandria VA or Kearneysville WV.
Day to Day Work Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain Linux servers and systems.
- Engineering and supporting different solutions such as: (BMC TSSA UiPath OpenShift RHEL imaging)
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Implement configure and maintain ACAS and Tenable solutions (Nessus Security Center).
- Conduct troubleshooting on vulnerability assessments and ensure compliance with DoD policies and security standards.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to deploy and maintain applications.
- Create and maintain documentation for system configurations and procedures.
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members and endusers.
- Stay uptodate with industry trends and emerging technologies.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree and minimum 5 years experience or high school diploma/equivalent and 9 years experience
- U.S. Citizenship required; must have an active Secret clearance (or higher).
- Proven experience as a Linux Administrator 3 years).
- Experience with serverclient architectures preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ACAS Tenable Nessus and Security Center.
- Knowledge of STIGs and secure configuration of Linux devices preferred.
- Familiarity with DoD policies and security compliance frameworks.
- Proficient in scripting languages (e.g. Bash Python).
- Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible Puppet).
- Understanding of networking concepts and security protocols.
- Experience with BMC ARS BMC Helix or ServiceNow as an ITSM tool.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in DoDs Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) is a plus.
- Relevant certifications (e.g. RHCE CompTIA Linux).
- Experience with Cloud environments (AWS Azure).
- Knowledge of Containerization (Docker Kubernetes).
- Experience with BMC Helix CMDB Integrations and Automation.
