Ensuring Charts Success

L.A. Turbine is a design and manufacturing company creating applicationspecific highly engineered turboexpanders that are used in hydrocarbon processing geothermal power generation and other powerrecovery or refrigeration applications in industrial processes worldwide. Expert field service repair and spare parts are available for all types of turboexpanders.

The companys operation is vertically integrated with broad engineering expertise and analytical competency multiaxial CNC machining capability mechanical assembly PLC and electrical assembly complete metal fabrication and testing facilities that include resonance balancing pressure performance and mechanical run test.

Position Summary: This position will manage and coordinate the work of the Application Engineering staff. Additionally functioning as a primary technical resource for the field sales force and is responsible for actively driving and managing the technical and commercial evaluation of the inquiry to order process. Working in conjunction with the sales and engineering team as the key technical advisor and product advocate the Application Engineering team lead must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical and commercial issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process.

What Your DaytoDay Activities Will Be

  • Receive and review customer specifications for technical and commercial requirements for new equipment projects while developing and aligning proposals for centrifugal turboexpanders turbocompressors and related equipment and services to generate competitive technical and commercial proposals to the customer to successfully secure new and repeat business opportunities.
  • Perform technical review of customer/project specifications and identify and rationalize requirements outside of our standard scope/design to ensure the product/proposal package is designed to meet agreedupon specifications.
  • Perform calculations and product selections to most efficiently and effectively meet the customers process needs.
  • In conjunction with the Commercial / Sales team pursue and lead technical and commercial proposal / design concept communications and meetings with the customer in order to steer preference and acceptance of proposed solutions while seeking out Voice of the Customer feedback in order to better refine or modify the proposal / design concept offerings.
  • Lead and drive the internal proposal process throughout the sales phase between inside and outside sales personnel and representatives project management design engineering aftermarket and supply chain. Requires interaction and leadership with other internal and external partners concerning all aspects of the proposal process including engineering quality logistics scheduling spare parts field services legal and sub suppliers to ensure proposals account for all aspects of internal costs resources scheduling commercial and legal needs.
  • Accountable for performing applications engineering and sales activities to meet applicable KPIs such as bookings value bookings margins OTD and proposal pipeline in line with company goals.
  • Promote and practice proper safety procedures and personal protection equipment
  • Maintain expert level of product knowledge and application.
  • Articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.
  • Provide design and specification development support to consultants integrators and distributors.
  • Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
  • Listen understand and convey customer requirements.
  • Perform technical/ product training for salespeople estimators and engineers at targeted accounts.
  • Assist in the design and development of new products and tools necessary to make target accounts comfortable and successful at selling.
  • Maintain accurate records of target accounts opportunities quotes projects contacts and correspondence in company approved databases and Salesforce.
  • Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission values and financial objectives.
  • Maintain professional business relationships within target accounts.
  • Provide status of ongoing projects and future projects.
  • Identify customers needs and sales opportunities to help future growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Your Education Should Be

  • BS in Engineering or another related field.
  • Experience in centrifugal air/gas turboexpander/turbocompressor / turboexpandergeargenerator or other rotating equipment
  • 5 years of experience in bidding/proposal preparation and the ability to read and understand bid/proposal specifications both from a technical perspective and commercial perspective as related to Contractual Terms and Conditions

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require

While performing the duties of this job the associate is regularly required to stand walk and/or balance use hands and fingers to type handle feel grasp pushing and pulling. The individual is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk and hear operate office equipment (computer copier scanner phone etc. and repetitive motion. The individual is occasionally required to climb stoop kneel or crouch. The individual may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision and ability to adjust focus. This position is subject to an office environment and rare occasions to an uncontrolled manufacturing shop with environmental conditions which could expose associate to noise and oils as well as subjected to hazards such as but not limited to moving parts and vehicles heat and chemicals.

Your Professional Experience Should Be

  • Competent in reading technical drawings including P&IDs
  • Experience with API & ASME codes
  • Expertise in Gas Dynamics / Auxiliary System Design / Control & Electrical or Mechanical Design a big plus
  • Knowledge of computer software: AutoCAD SolidWorks MS Word MS Excel MS Project
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas Air Separation and Power Generation required
  • Experience in Risk Assessment analysis a plus
  • Strong communication skills to interface with internal personnel and external customers
  • Self starter who can work independently without close supervision
